Originally the area was run down with a long, narrow dilapidated jetty and had large established evergreen trees blocking the highway view of the lake and beyond of the Gardens and the Remarkables mountain range in the distance.

The space was opened up with a large grassed area incorporating deciduous trees, new paving, seating and planting beds formalising the area with a strong wide new jetty which is in regular use today with charter cruise boats and fishing boats.
